5 8. Make sure the blade is not contacting the workpiece bef ore the switch is turned on. 9. Keep hands awa y from moving parts. 10. Do not leave the tool running. Operate the tool only when hand-held. 11 . Alwa ys switch off and wait for the blade to come to a complete stop before remo ving the blade from the w orkpiece.
6 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION CA UTION: • Alwa ys be sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged bef ore adjusting or checking function on the tool. Switch action CA UTION: • Bef ore plugging in the tool, always chec k to see that the s witch tr igger actuates properly and retur ns to the “ OFF ” position when released.
7 CA UTION: • If the tool is operated continuously at lo w speeds for a long time, the motor will get o verloaded and heated up. • The speed adjusting dial can be turned only as far as 6 and back to 1. Do not f orce it past 6 or 1, or the speed adjusting function ma y no longer work .
8 Hex wrench stora ge When not in use, store the he x wrench as shown in the figure to keep it from being lost. Adjusting roller Loosen the bolt on the back of the base with the he x wrench. Mov e the retainer so that the roller contacts the blade lightly .
9 OPERA TION CA UTION: • Alwa ys hold the base flush with the workpiece. F ailure to do so ma y cause blade breakage, resulting in a serious injur y . • Advance the tool v er y slo wly when cutting cur ves or scrolling. Fo rcing the tool may cause a slanted cutting surf ace and blade breakage.
10 Tilt the base until the desired be vel angle is obtained. The edge of the motor housing indicates the be vel angle by g rad- uations. Then tighten the bolt to secure the base . Front flush cuts Loosen the bolt on the back of the base with the he x wrench and slide the base all the wa y back.
11 (4) Complete the cut in the normal manner. Finishing edges T o tr im edges or mak e dimensional adjustments, run the blade lightly along the cut edges . Metal cutting Alwa ys use a suitable coolant (cutting oil) when cutting metal. F ailure to do so will cause significant blade w ear .
12 T o install, inser t the r ip f ence into the rectangular hole on the side of the base with the f ence guide facing down. Slide the rip fence to the desired cutting width position, then tighten the bolt to secure it. 2. Circular cuts When cutting circles or arcs of 170 mm (6 - 11/16 ” ) or less in radius, install the rip f ence as follo ws.
